Meeting of Interdisciplinary Management Councilon Vietnam Tobacco Control Fund

The meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Minister of Health – Chairman of Management Council on Tobacco Control Fund. Attending the meeting, participants are members of Fund Management Council: Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Thi Xuyen, Standing member of Council, Mr.Nguyen Minh Hong, Vice Minister of Information and Communication, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngang, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Labor Confederation General, and representative of ministries: Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture.

 

To the Ministry of Health, participants were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of Medical Services Administration – Director of Vietnam Steering Committee Smoke and Health; representative of leaders and officers of Legal Department, Department of Organization and Personnel, Department of Planning – Finance and VINACOSH staffs.

 

At the meeting, after annoucing the Decision on members of Interdisciplinary Management Council on Tobacco Control Fund,  Assoc.Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue reported the Tobacco control activities results last time and implementation situation of Decision No 47/QD-TTg dated 29th July, 2013 of Prime Minister on establisment, approval of regulations of organization and operation of Tobacco Control Fund.
In the discussion, participants focused on the key issues: Organizational, staff structure, financing mechanism, action plan development.

 

Conclusion of conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Chairman suggested it should be progressed activities plan development first and end 6 months of 2014, especially focused communication activities on tobacco harms prevention in oder to ensure Tobacco Control Fund operational soon and efficiency.
